  • Impressment
  • They are going to mess up our trade!!
  • President Madison, the British are taking over our ships and took some men to force them into their Navy!
  • Native American Resistance
  • Here are some weapons to defend yourselves.
  • Phase 1
  • The British ships started hijacking the Americans ships and took them to England to be forced in their army. This caused the trade going out from the states to be messed up, because they couldn't get to where they needed to go.
  • Phase 2
  • The British allied with the Native Americans so that they could fight us. They gave them manufactured weapons to help them.
  • Phase 3
  • The British fought the U.S. Navy in the Great Lakes and the British shot down our ship, but we rowed to another and managed to take them down. Then we battled them again at Thames and defeated them while taking out the Indian tribe leader, Tecumseh.
  • Effects of the War
  • The British burned down the whole city of Washington D.C. and the White house. Then they battled us on ship and they bombed Fort McHenry. When the Fort was still standing and Francis Scott Key saw the American flag waving, he wrote the song "Star Spangled Banner".
  • The U.S. militia men met the British in Louisiana and won the battle with Andrew Jackson leading. The U.S. militia men injured and killed a lot of the British army. Andrew Jackson became a war hero because of this.
  • The war of 1812 effected the U.S. by making us produce our own manufactured goods. We had to make manufactured goods because, we normally got ours from Britain which we weren't doing anymore.
