  • James Madison Gives A Speech
  • I am happy in assurance that the decision will be worthy the enlightened and patriotic councils of a virtuous, a free, and a powerful nation.
  • British Soldier Allies With Native Americans
  • We should team up and fight the Americans. They are going to take over your land. We will give you weapons to help.
  • Maybe we should fight.
  • Tecumseh Gets Killed
  • James Madison gave his war message to Congress in Washington. He did this so that Congress could declare war.
  • The Star Spangled Banner Becomes Written
  • That our flag was still there.
  • The British convinced Native Americans to work with them. This is one of the causes of the war along with British troops attacking American ships and making American sailors go into the British navy.
  • Andrew Jackson Becomes A War Hero
  • There were battles in the Great Lakes and Canada. The most famous battle was the Battle of Thames. During this battle William Henry Harrison defeated Tecumseh, the Native American leader.
  • American Industries Start Booming
  • Fort McHenry was bombed. After the bombing our flag was still there. This inspired Francis Scott Key to write our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.
  • The Battle of New Orleans was a victory for America. There were 2,000 British troops. Andrew Jackson became a war hero.
  • After the war ended America's industry grew. Americans realized they couldn't depend on products of other countries so they started making their own. This era is called the Industrial Revolution.
