France also doesn't respect America's neutrality, so Thomas Jefferson sets in place the Embargo Act. This act closed trade with England and France.

  • The British are giving the natives weapons and telling them to fight the Americans. This makes it difficult for americans to settle in the territory. Jefferson quickly realized that the Embargo Act is ruining the US economy, so he passes the Non-Intercouse Act. • I surrender!
  • Although the Treaty of Ghent was pointless aside from the fact that it guaranteed peace, the war had some positive effects for America. During the war foreign trade was low, so Americans had to process their own products. This forced the building of factories, and started the Industrial Revolution. The War of 1812 increased Patriotism, and made people proud to be and American.
