James Madison was the first president to ask congress for the US to go to war with Great Britain.
Phase 2: Francis Scott Key and the Bombardment of Fort McHenry
We would be out of the trading business because there would be a blockade of Great Britain's navy ships.
Phase 3: Andrew Jackson as a War Hero and the Battle of New Orleans
The British Navy made a blockade of ships to stop trading with France. But Oliver Hazard Perry beat them all in a row boat.
Effects of the War
Francis Scott Key was at the Battle of Fort McHenry. He also wrote our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner."
The British have attacked New Orleans in 1815. James Madison sent Andrew Jackson to command the American forces.
This led us to the industrial revolution.
