A group of girls are caught dancing in the woods with Tituba by Reverend Parris. Betty, who is Parris' daughter, falls into a state-like coma. Conversations about witchcraft start to abrupt the town. Reverend Hale who is an expert on witchcraft is called to question Abigail about it but she admits it was just dancing.
Betty wakes up screaming, so everyone starts to argue that she has been bewitched. On the other hand, Proctor, Parris, Giles and Putnam start a dispute on the land deeds and money. As they argue, Hale arrives and examines Betty. He then quizzes Abigail, seeing her being suspicious
Tituba confesses into communing with the Devil, but accuses many of the townspeople that they consorted with him. Abigail chimes in and also confessed that she seen the devil conspiring with the other townspeople. Betty joins in by naming witches so the town has an uproar.
