  • Man vs. Nature Man Vs. Sea
  • Santiago has trouble with nature because he makes his living, as a fisherman. However, the sea does not provide him with enough to catch/survive on.
  • Man vs. Society
  • No Fish?
  • Santiago is against the other fishermen in the village, who scold him for all the time he has been out on the water and came back with nothing
  • HaHa
  • Man Vs. Society Santiago Vs. Society
  • No Fish...
  • Society ( other fishermen) view older people as useless and no longer needed in the world to serve a purpose.
  • What we caught
  • Man vs. nature Santiago vs. merolin
  • He is able to catch the large marlin, but the sea never allows him to have it, and he then returns to shore with nothing but the skeleton. The sharks ate it before he he could.
  • He is trying to live out one last time, one catch of the marlin, but he suffers from old age and ridicule from the younger fisherman yet he does not let that get in the way. But then the fish never makes it back with him.
  • Man Vs. Self Himself Vs. Age
  • Man Vs. self Santiago Vs. Himself
  • He may have been physically beaten, but he is not emotionally beaten because he didn't overall catch the fish. He went home and Dreamed of other adventures
