  • Sun Yat-Sen is a political idealist that is looking to unify China under a republic. After the president dies, the country is divided into two camps. The first, Beijing ruled by warlords in the north. The second, Sun Yat-Sen and warlords in the south that want to organize a Nationalist rival government.
  • The Long March 1934
  • The May 4th Movement is a student led revolt that was fueled by Nationalist and Communist ideas of re-unifying China.
  • Japanese Invasion 1937
  • My army is weakening!

  • Nationalist leader Chiang Kai Shek began a purge of Communists, killing thousands. Mao Zedong emerged as a leader of the Communists. Nationalist armies defeat Communist in battle.
  • Mao led his followers to rebuild communism in a safe area outside Nationalist control.
  • I don't understand! How did we lose? We must rebuild Communism!
  • The invasion brought a halt to the Chinese Civil War. Both sides agreed to join forces to defend China. The Nationalist army took most of the bulk and was severely weakened. The Communist army grew during the invasion.
