  • I shall show them loyalty but should show them that I, myself can govern without them
  • I am so sick of the taxation from these hulligans
  • England, 1774. The British, even though they are many miles away, still had control over the colonies. This angered the colonists and caused them think of ways to change this problem.
  • September 5th, 1774 Philadelphia, the First Continental Congress gets together for a meeting. This meeting was proposed to start creating their own government which would be chosen by the people
  • WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR WHAT'S RIGHT!
  • PROTECTION AND PEACE!!
  • PEACE CAN SAVE US ALL!!
  • After much more discussion, the congress declared the declaration of rights, showing loyalty to the British crown, but not liking the way the British govern and tax the colonists.
  • May, 1775 Philadelphia. 12 of 13 delegates from the colonies meet together to discuss some issues. This is known as the Second Continental Congress.
  • Many delegates thought about war, so they needed a leader. George Washington was picked to be leader and so he told King George that he wanted peace. The Olive-Branch Petition was then signed by John Adams even though he didn't like it.
  • King George denied the petition and sent over the royal navy to blockade the colonists. This was solid evidence King George was an enemy to American Liberty.
