It is the 4th of July. A firework hits a house, leaving a woman and her two children homeless.
The legislative branch's job is to make laws. The branch is made up of the house of representatives and the senate. They are aware of the incident and create a law that anyone releasing fireworks must be a certain amount to feet away.
The law must be enforced by the executive branch which is made up of the president and his cabinet. They approve of the law. It is now an official law.
A man and a woman complain that the law is unconstitutional.
The judicial branch's job is to check that the law is constitutional. The branch is made up of the supreme court (9 judges are in it so every vote will have a winner). The law ends up being constitutional.
The government pays for a new home for the family and the family is happy once again.
