Storyboard Text

  • Act One
  • You know the check is coming tomorrow.
  • That Money is for Mama to use, Walter.
  • Act One
  • But if Mama got that money she can always take a few thousand and help you through school too- can't she.
  • I have never asked anyone around here to do anything for me!
  • Act Two
  • Could I please get a drink of water, before I tell you about it, Walter Lee?
  • Sit down... lemme hear.
  • This is the first scene where you see two characters fighting directly over the check. In the scene with Ruth and Walter they fight over money but don't ever actually talk about the check so this is where the characters are drawn into conflict.
  • Act Two
  • The conflict is, each family member wants the money for a different reason. Walter wants it for his liquor store and Beneatha for her education. This scene shows the reader the conflict between Beneatha and Walter as well as over the check.
  • Act Three
  • And we have decided to move into our house because my father-my father- he earned it for us brick by brick.
  • This scene starts out with Bobo coming over to tell Walter about the deal with Willy. Walter is very excited as he thinks he is about to become a very rich man. Ruth notices Bobo's depressed mood but Walter does not.
  • Act Three
  • LET'S GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!
  • When Walter finds out that Willy ran away with the money, he is crushed because he has just ruined his dream of a liquor store. He lost not only his money but also Beneatha's money. Now, neither of them can achieve their dreams and that breaks apart the family.
  • Gone, what you mean willy is gone? Gone where?
  • Man, Willy is gone.
  • In this scene, Walter goes into the meeting intending to take the money that Lindner offered. His family was disgusted but he couldn't do it and he assured Lindner that they would be moving in This solved the conflict of the family becoming separated.
  • I sure hope you people know what you're getting into.
  • Another conflict that was solved in this scene was what happened to the check. After you find out Walter lost 6500 dollars, you learn that the rest of the money goes towards the new house. They don't let the whites scare them away and they embrace their new life.
