Siddhartha Gautama was born into royalty, he was isolated from the outside world and was kept inside a palace without suffering or pain.
While growing up A wise man told Siddhartha that he would either be a great leader or a great teacher.
Siddhartha realised that life in the palace wan't right and that it couldn't protect him from suffering after his witnessed an ill mad in pain, an old lady and a funeral.
he decided to leave the palace and find a state without suffering and pain, he met some wise men who told him that making your body suffer helps you to finds deeper thoughts that can't usually be reached.
Therefore he decided to starve himself over a period of six years but this again didn't remove him from the life of suffering so he gave up the life of self denial.
However he didn't go back to pampered life in the palace, instead he followed the middle way. One day beneath a Body tree he submerged into deep meditation and finally reached a state of enlightenment.
