Alright kids, today we're going to learn about finance. Finance is just a fancy way of saying how you spend money. I've got an example that I bet many of you can relate to.
Imagine that your parents give you $10 to open up a lemonade stand. You are careful about the way you spend your money, so it costs you $5 to set it up. That means that the $5 you have left over is called a "surplus". The money that you make that day from selling lemonade is called a "profit".
Aren't finances fun kids!
