George Washington must confront a student who is displaying aggressive behaviors.
I hate you, George Washington! I'm going to start exhibiting extreme, destructive behaviors that may put my peers at risk!
Uh oh! It appears that one of my students is very upset, and beginning to display extreme, and aggressive behaviors! After ensuring that the other students and I are safe, I will practice active listening in order to validate this student's concerns. Hopefully, once she has had the opportunity to calm down, we can address the issue in a more reasonable manner.
Five minutes later...
George Washington validated my feelings, and also conveyed that my behavior was threatening and destructive. Now I'm ready to address the issue in a calm, and rational manner!
