Canadian Identity: Mosaic Vs Melting Pot
Hi my name is Georges E. Sioui and I'm the author of “For an Amerindian Autohistory”.
And my name is Rudyard Griffiths. I am a philanthropic adviser, author, and television broadcaster
Let me explain my take on the topic of Canadian identity to you guys! Canada is a wonderful country but unfortunately they call us “the greatest hotel on Earth”.
I beg to differ! A national unified identity takes away from the diversity our country offers and the emphasis on every individual finding their purpose of life.
Everyone that comes to Canada merely becomes a visitor with their own ideologies, beliefs, and backgrounds without any common Canadian identity. What a shame!
With each new wave of immigrants, the ethnic and cultural composition of Canada gets richer. Why throw this wonderful aspect of our nation away for a shared identity?
Well that sucks because Canada has lost it's core beliefs and first principles leading us to be uncertain about who we are as people now more than any other time in our history
Okay okay but Canadians have placed more stress in searching for personal fulfillment and quality of life instead of building a strong national identity. What a shame !
Canada is building its legacy as a collective society with distinct cultures, ethnicities, and religions. I believe this makes us a perfectly exquisite mosiac!
