  • During my time playing baseball, I played in a league called the negro leagues. Which was a league for African American men since we weren't allowed to play in the leques with the White men. Also, while I played in the negro leagues I was considered somewhat of a Big Cheese because I was a great hitter and field player and was nicknamed "The Black Babe Ruth". Another fact was that by the end of my career I batted a .348 average.

  • Unfortunately, not too much is know about my early childhood. Some of what is known is that I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and I was a bat boy for a local Professional team. Later on when I was 15 I joined the Army where I was stationed in the Philipines and became a bimbo. While I stayed there I became the first American to play in there Manila baseball league.

  • During my life, I married my baby Helen Grubs. Soon after we got divorced. But during my career as a ball player, I experienced a snappy temper. Throughout my career, I got into a bit too many brawls including one with an umpire of players and even fans. Though somewhat odd off the field I was a completely different man quite and calm.

  • Towards the end of my life, I managed various ball teams such as the Brooklyn Brown Dodgers. I also worked in the baggage department at the Philidelphia Pensylvania railway station where I retired (1949). A few years later in 1954, I died of a heart attack followed by a stroke. About 20 years later in 1976 and I was put into the Baseball Hall of Fame!
