I moved from the south to the north, where there is no slavery. You want me to go back south where I would again be a slave?
No way! I have lived in the North which means I am free. I do not want to be a slave again.
I'm going to sue you!
No way can you sue him! Slaves are property, and property can't sue.
What?! That decision makes us, the north, very mad! Slaves are not property and have the right to sue. Dred Scott was free here in the north.
This decision failed to resolve tensions between the north and the south, and even made it worse. This was an example of conflicts between the different interests. Events as this would inspire people, specifically abolitionists, as John Brown to lead radical movements against the south.
