John Dalton: Chemist and Physicist 1766-1844
Dalton's atomic theory proposed that all matter was composed of atoms, indivisible and indestructible building blocks.
While all atoms of an element were identical, different elements had atoms of differing size and mass.
John Dalton was the first scientist after Democritus to think about the atom and was the first to have an atomic theory
There was no previous atom model so Dalton didn't have much to work with. His model was a simple circle
There was no knowledge of a nucleus, proton or electron
