Storyboard Text

  • Should we stop them from fighting?
  • No, it's fine. There are other people here, they will probably help if the fight continues to get worst. Also, the teacher will probably come soon.
  • Yes, we did. We were also there when it happened.
  • Hi Betty and Nancy! Did you guys heard about the fight that happened in the hallway today?
  • No, because there were people there.
  • What is bystander effect?
  • You guys didn't stop or help them at all? Wow, the bystander effect that my teacher taught me is actually true.
  • Oh, I see. No wonder we acted like that. I guess everyone else that were there was probably thinking the same thing as well.
  • It happens especially when they are a large number of people. Which caused you guys to feel that you had less of an obligation to help them because of the large crowd as you could spread the guilt and end up not being guilty at all.
  • Yes but anyway, let's go and eat lunch in the cafeteria. I am starving!
  • Oh well, maybe I should help next time or atleast tell the teacher then.
  • Nancy, would this be an example of classical conditioning since we just left the building in response to a bell? I know that classical conditioning is when an organism responds to an event without thinking. We all naturally left without anyone telling us to do so! Also, the bell would be the stimuli and leaving the building would be our response!
  • Yes! You are correct! You finally understand what classical conditioning is.
