  • Chapter 7
  • sticks of gum (Wrigley's Double Mint), two shiny Indian coins, grey twine, soap figures resembling us, old spelling bee medals, an old watch, and an aluminum knife.
  • Chapter 8
  • "Atticus the world is ending!"
  • Chapter 9
  • You shouldn't curse if you want to grow up to be a lady
  • A week passes and Jem and Scout find some more things in the knothole but when Mr. Radley closes it Jem cries because the connection he had with Boo is now gone which shows signs of maturity
  • Chapter 10
  • It is a sin to kill a mockingbird
  • Winter comes to Maycomb and Scout and Jem start to experience it for the first time by building a snowman. Jem maturity level goes down after building snowman that looks like Mr. Avery.
  • Chapter 11
  • courage isn't strength or skill with a gun, it's standing up for what's right no matter what.
  • Scout now had to face the difficulties of not fighting after so many people say bad things about her father and she also has to fight the urge of saying curse words while learning to grow up and respect the people around her no matter what. Jem also has to learn self- respect with what is going around with his dad.

  • Jem learns a very important lesson to being a gentleman when they learn that their father was good at shooting when he was younger but doesn't anymore unless it is necessary. Jem thinks is being a gentleman which he believes he is
  • Jem learns a valuable massage while working with Mrs. Dubose after he killed off her flowers and had to learn his lesson reading to her every day for a month besides Sundays until she finally dies and she gives him a present representing an important message.
