Storyboard Description

I did not take pictures during my first semester because I never really did anything to take pictures of. All I did was study my life away and worry about the future. My first semester at UF was nothing like I had imagined. In all honesty, I didn't enjoy it at all. When it came time to do this project, I had no clue how I was going to get it done, because the only thing I had to reflect on was stress and mental breakdowns.

Storyboard Text

  • So Long, Livestock
  • Hello Red Lights and Higher Education
  • Homework or Social Life?
  • On August 11, 2016, I packed up my bags and left my backwoods, no red light town in the dust to move on to bigger and better things.
  • Breaking Point
  • When I arrived at UF it's needless to say I was overwhelmed. I had no clue what to expect or if I would even be able to make it in a place like this. The fear had set in.
  • I Saw the Light
  • After the first week, it became evident that a social life wouldn't be possible if I wanted to stay on top of my school work and maintain good grades. I began to live in the libraries and my apartment day and night doing homework. I regret not taking the time to make many new memories or participate in many experiences.
  • The Semester's Safe Haven
  • Halfway through the semester I had hit my breaking point. My academic and personal life were not going well, I was stressed beyond belief, I felt as if I were alone, and I began to think I didn't belong here. Did I mention this breakdown was on the bus?
  • After having my mental breakdown, I decided it was time for a change. I changed my major to something I know and enjoy, I started to try and make time for a social life, and I began to find the little pieces of happiness in each day.
  • As cheesy as it may sound, through all of my rough patches, First Year Florida become my safe haven this semester. It was the one class I never dreaded coming too. For fifty minutes out of every Tuesday it made everything seem okay.
