Escaping the Laestrygonians, the crew reached the Aeaean Island, home the nymph with a beautiful voice, Circe. The docked their ship at shore and rested for two full days before they sighted smoke from Circe's halls.
Odysseus sent out Eurylochus, a trusted solder, and twenty two comrades to find Circe's palace. Once nearby her palace, the men could here her singing and called her out immediately. Circe then invited them. The entire crew entered as if they were under a love spell except Eurylochus; he suspected a trap.
Circe discreetly mixed up a potion for the men. They all willingly drank it and when she waved her wand they turned into pigs! The crew members were now trapped. Eurylochus quickly ran back to tell the others at the ship.
As Odysseus headed inland to rescue his men, he was approached by a god, Hermes. Hermes warned Odysseus about Circe and told him that she would use her magic on him just like she did to his men. Hermes gave Odysseus a drug and an entire plan to get him men back and protect himself from Circe's magic.
Odysseus reached Circe's halls where she led him in to give turn Odysseus into a pig like the rest of the men. However he was protected from her spell. When the time was right he rushed his blade through his and continued every step of the plan Hermes gave him.
The plan had worked and Odysseus' soldiers were back to being humans. They stayed in Circe's halls for a year and a half where she cared and provided for them. When it was time to move on Circe did not hold Odysseus and his crew back. She told them how to get back home by visiting the Land of the Dead and set the crew on their way.
