  • Chapter One: Ghetto
  • "Faster! Faster! Move, you lazy goods-for-nothings!"  
  • Chapter Two: Transport to Concentration Camp
  • 
  • Chapter Three: Arriving at the Concentration Camp
  •  This is when the Germans were making the Jews leave their homes to take them to a concentration camp. pg.19
  • Chapter Four: Losing Faith
  • NO! DAD! NO!
  • "Well father, what do we do?" He was silent. "Let's evacuate with the others, I Said..."
  • This is when the jews were being transported to the camp and they had to cram so many people in one car. A woman in the car was screaming, "Jews, listen to me," she cried. "I see a fire! I see flames, huge flames!" pg 24 and 25
  • Chapter Five: The escape
  • They arrived at Auschwitz and were separated from their families. This is a description of how it was when they  arrived. "Comrades, you are now in the concentration camp Auschwitz. Ahead of you lies a long road paved of suffering. Don't lose hope. You have already eluded the worst danger: the selection... (page 41)
  • This is when Idek began beating Elie's father because he thought  he wasn't working hard enough. pg.54 Elie began to lose faith when this happened.
  • This discription is when the Jews had to get out of the concentration camp because the Russians were coming to attack them and they had to find a way to escape quickly. pg.82
