The Southern Delegates
We, the southern delegates, believe that the slaves should be counted in our population to get more representation.
The Northern Delegates
We, the Northern delegates, believe that the slaves should not be counted in our population. Slaves are property ans should get no representation.
This compromise was important because for the first time slaves got some representation, even though the representation was only for the good of the South. It also insured the south to have good representation in the House of Representatives.
Our names are James Wilson and Roger Sherman and we think we have a compromise to this problem.
Our compromise is that 3/5 of the slave population will be included in the total population.
