Storyboard Text

  • Shmuel tells Bnei Yisrael that they have rejected Hashem and then anoints the new king.
  • After Shaul's anointment, Nachash the Amoni, comes to Yaveish Gilad with his soldiers. The people want to make a peace treaty so he won't harm them, but they'll be his servants.
  • People of Yaveish Gilad, I will help make a treaty, but you must cut out your right eyes as a sign of disgrace.
  • Shmuel had told Shaul to wait in Gilgal for a week before they would bring korbanos. So Shaul was there, taking care of animals when the messengers came. He heard crying and asked what was going on.
  • Nachash came to Yaveish Gilad and in a week, they´re fighting him!
  • Lots were picked. First Shmuel picked Shevet Benyamin. Then he picked Shaul's family. Finally, he picked Shaul, but no one could find him. They asked Hashem, Who told them that Shaul was hiding behind the luggage.
  • Shaul took two oxen, cut them up, and declared that Bnei Yisrael would be like the oxen if they didn´t help. He sent a piece to all of Bnei Yisrael.
  • Yaveish Gilad
  • After Nachash decreed that they would have to cut out their right eyes in order to make a treaty, the people of Yaveish Gilad asked for seven days to gather an army. Nachash agreed, confident he would win the battle.
  • At night Bnei Yisrael attacked Nachash and the Amonim. The Amonim fled.
  • Shaul became angry at Bnei Yisrael for crying.
  • Bnei Yisrael re-anoint Shaul.
  • Bnei Yisrael went to Yaveish Gilad to help them.
  • At the beginning of his reign, there were some who ridiculed Shaul. After Bnei Yisrael victoriously fought the Amonim, all praised him, but some of Bnei Yisrael wanted to kill the people that had mocked him. Shaul disagreed saying that none should be killed on the day Hashem saved them.
