  • Algebra
  • Hello class! Today we're going to be learning about algebra.
  • Yeah! I'm really confused.
  • Mrs. Smith? I have a question: Why does algebra have anything to do with History?
  • The chapter we are on, the Middle East, has lots to do with algebra. In the 9th century, a man from the Middle East named Al-Khwarizmi, played a major part in developing algebra. Based on Hindu and Greek mathematics, he came up with raising a number to a power!
  • How did they develop algebra?
  • Yeah!
  • They developed algebra through box games and research of the Greeks and Hindus style of math. Arabs from the Middle East also came up with the place-value system and decimal system!
  • I'm learning so much!
  • Me too!
  • Me three!
