Hello class! Today we're going to be learning about algebra.
Yeah! I'm really confused.
Mrs. Smith? I have a question: Why does algebra have anything to do with History?
The chapter we are on, the Middle East, has lots to do with algebra. In the 9th century, a man from the Middle East named Al-Khwarizmi, played a major part in developing algebra. Based on Hindu and Greek mathematics, he came up with raising a number to a power!
How did they develop algebra?
They developed algebra through box games and research of the Greeks and Hindus style of math. Arabs from the Middle East also came up with the place-value system and decimal system!
I'm learning so much!
