  • Jackson as President
  • Fellow-Citizens: About to undertake the arduous duties that I have been appointed to perform by the choice of a free people..........
  • Andrew Jackson is now the president of the United States... and he would like to say a few words.
  • Our Right to Vote
  • Does this mean woman can vote?
  • Now that Jackson´s lowered the land requirements my dad can vote!
  • No
  • Civilian Participation
  • NO!!!!!!
  • Jackson should be re-elected
  • Andrew Jackson, a Democrat elected for president in 1812 by a landslide, won the election by appealing to the average american citizen and by appealing to citizens in favor of states rights.
  • The Caucus System vs Nominating Conventions
  • South Carolina does not want Jackson to be re-elected!
  • In the 1820's the right to vote (suffrage) changed in the United States. 22 of the 24 states in the union either relaxed property requirements or rid them all together. This allowed white male sharecroppers and poor men to vote.
  • The Spoils System
  • You´re going to help me run errands for the government!
  • Jackson's changes with policy allowed civilians to participate directly in the government. This effected civilians immensely, because it made civilians able to choose their presidential electors to represent them.
  • Jefferson's Democratic Expansion
  • The Democratic government abandoned the caucus system, a system in which candidates were chosen by committees made up of members of congress, in favor of a system that favored nominating conventions. The nominating conventions system favored the process of selecting delegates from the states who selected presidential candidates for their party. This made sure that citizens would have the president and delegates that they wanted to represent them.
  • New York wants Jackson re-elected!
  • Democrats wanted to change the federal bureaucracy, a system made up of non-elected officials that could help carry out laws. Jackson replaced many of these jobs with his supporters arguing that average citizens could work in government (Spoils System). This change helped citizens gain a better place in the economy.
  • Ok
  • Many changes in the government (democratic expansion) instituted by Jackson are still around today. Jackson is credited with bringing America the two party system as well as made voting and the electoral system more accessible. Jackson believed that voting and government was not meant for only the wealthy. He believed that citizens should be able to vote for president, delegates, and representatives.
  • ...And that´s the end of the Andrew Jackson tour!
  • WOW! thanks I learned a lot!
