  • The Enlightenment was an intellectual movement which dominated the world of ideas in Europe in the 18th century. Enlightenment thinkers were liberals of their day. They were typically humanists who supported equality and human dignity.
  • The American Revolution lasted from April 1775 to September 1783. On April 19 was the first battle of the American Revolution. On July 4th United States declared independence from Great Britain.
  • The french revolution was motivated by distinct ideas. Three revolutionary ideas were encapsulated in the revolutionary slogan, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. Revolution overthrew the monarchy, established a republic, experienced violent periods of political confusion.
