This whole structure, is a chromosome, it may look simple, but there are many parts to it. Let's take a look.
First, we start with the centromere. It is shown by the arrow. This is the center where the 2 sister chromatids meet and connect.
Next, we have a histone being shown by an arrow. The histone is the point where the DNA is being coiled around.
The red arrow shows a telomere, this is the top of the chromosome, capping it off. The green arrow shows the genes itself. This is where we get certain traits, such as eye color, hair color, etc.
The red arrow is now showing the black line, which represents the DNA itself. This is where the genetic information is stored in the cell. And finally, the sister chromatids are the identical pairs of DNA, met at the centromere as described earlier.
