Henry David Thoreau left town for a shack in the woods in hope to connect with nature.
Living in this run-down shack is really letting me live deliberately.
Nature is so beautiful...
Walden by Henry David Thoreau
He wanted to live a simply, which he believed would give him a simpler understanding of life
He also had another purpose- to reconnect with mother nature. Within a week of his stay, Thoreau had acquired a deeper appreciation of nature.
Thoreau depended on himself to catch his food, including cutting through ice in the winter to get his water.
At the end of his experience, Thoreau had an understanding that his simple living surrounded by nature brought him spiritual wellness.
The author returned to his town and decided to spread his theory that simple living led to a simpler understanding of life, and that anyone was capable of it.
