Simile is comparing two things using 'like' or 'as'. The author states,"Suddenly there came a tapping, As of someone gently rapping"(Poe,1).
Metaphor is comparing two unlike things to each other. In the book THE RAVEN it says,"dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor "(Poe,1).
Personification is a person, animal, or object regarded as representing or embodying a quality, concept, or thing. The book states,"Quoth the Raven ,'Nevermore' (Poe,2).
