Greasers Vs. Socs
Darry has pushed Pony to become the best he can but because Darry can often seem less open-minded to Pony it causes Pony to think that Darry doesn't care about him. This makes it so that Pony trusts Soda more and it makes him think that Darry wished he wasn't around. So when Darry hit him, he felt like he had to get out. But when he realized the true intention of Darry was to give him something he never had the opportunity to get, it made him more open-minded and grateful for his life.
Being a Greaser has made Pony tougher and less open-minded when it comes to certain things. It also makes him think that its the way it's supposed to be and that things can't really change for the better. It confines him and doesn't really let him grow. Also It makes him stereotype all Socs for the actions of a few. For example several Socs groups have told him that they don't like fighting or jumping Greaser. This has caused Pony to not trust others or let them in.
Johnny was one of the people that made Pony feel accepted because Johnny was always their for Pony to talk to.Also Johnny would help Pony blow steam off after a fight with Darry. Not to mention that Johnny thought Pony many important things like patience for the people around you because when Darry gets mad at Pony, Johnny is their for him and gives Pony space to cool of. Also when Pony is calm Johnny will talk to him about what happened and if he can explain to Pony why Darry acted like that.
