I am on the North Pole.
The planet we live on is called Earth. Earth is ~92,960,000 miles from the sun. The diameter of the Earth is ~7,917.5 miles. Earth is the only planet in the Solar System with liquid water on the surface and the only planet known to be able to support life.
Looking at the sky from Earth you probably see the Sun. The Sun is in the center of our Solar System. The diameter of the Sun is ~864,575.9 miles. The surface of the Sun is ~9,941°F. The Sun is simply a big ball of gasses that release energy and allow life to live on Earth.
You cannot usually see it but the closest planet to Earth is Mars. Mars is ~33,900,000 miles from Earth. The diameter of Mars is ~4,212 miles. The average surface temperature of Mars is −67 °F. Mars is the closest planet to Earth. There are no known living organisms on Mars...that we know of...
