Storyboard Text

  • Title
  • "My love is a fever, longing still" is the title. I predict that the sonnet is going to be able someone who's love is an ongoing pain based on this title.
  • "My reason, the physician to my love, Angry, that his prescriptions are not kept, Hath left me, and I desperate now approve Desire is death, which physic did except."
  • Paraphrase
  • The person trying to give advice on his love is angry that he is not listening to his advice so he left. And now that he understands what he meant he realizes his desire was bad and the person giving him advice was trying to tell him.
  • Connotation
  • "Angry, that his prescriptions are not kept" uses the doctor diagnosis symbol to describe his situation with out stating it directly
  • Tone/Attitude
  • The speaker tone/attitude is a reflective, tense, and regretful in the choice he made in not taking the advice that was given to him.
  • Shift
  • The shift in the sonnet is the ending "At random from the truth vainly express'd; For I have sworn thee fair and thought thee bright, Who art as black as hell, as dark as night". This is when the speaker realized that his love was not good even though he was told that before and didn't listen to the advice.
  • Theme
  • The theme of the sonnet is to always take others advice into consideration and not always ignore others because they are sometimes right and when you are wrong you will have no one there for you anymore.
