"I am going to give you the memory of swimming." The Giver Said to Jonas. Jonas felt the hands touch his back and he entered the memory.
Jonas came upon water in a rectangle that was underground. The sun was hot and the sunburn feeling came upon his back.
Jonas felt the water and it gave him a thought that it might cool him off and make him feel better. He got ready to jump in the water.
Jonas jumped in the water and fell into the water. Not knowing how to swim he kicked himself up and rose to the top of the pool. He got to the shallow part of the pool and started to cool off.
He splashed around and had lots of fun and he wondered why they didn't have pool where he was. He wanted to stay in but when he tried to go back underwater he was back on the bed.
He appeared on the bed and saw The Giver. He looked up and asked "Why don't we swim in pools here"? Jonas asked . "They didn't want people to get hurt swimming or wasting water in the community." The giver said.
