Santa Claus in Africa
Instead of seeing Santa around the streets at night on Christmas in Liberia you might see "Old Man Bayka." He is also known as their 'santa' or some people call him the devil. On Christmas day he goes up and down the streets yelling at adults and children saying "Please give me a nice Christmas gift" or telling the children "Christmas is on you."
When he runs up and down the streets he wears a mask and sometimes they are different. Some people really hate him and they go out in the woods were he hides and they "hunt" for him. They dont allow the children to come because they dont want to terrorize them. Some people feel bad for him and give him nice gifts, he will say thank you and merry christmas then run off.
If one Santa runs into another Santa, they competitively perform to see which one is better by dancing and telling a story.
His name translates to "old man beggar" and if you give him a present you will be rewarded through hime dancing and singing.
I think that this is a pretty interesting, but what surprised me the most is the fact that if 2 of them meet, they perform competitively.
