Thurgood Marshall was born on July 2,1980 in Baltimore, Maryland.
He was the second child of Norma Arica Williams, a kindergarten teacher, and his father was William Marshall. His older brothers name was William Aubrey Marshall.
Marshalls given name was Thoroughgood, but in second grade he shortened his name because he didn't like having to spell it.
As a kid, the art of conversations and debates were a big part of his life growing up.
