The town has noticed that Mr. Bingley has arrived and Mrs. Bennet is trying to get Jane to marry him.
The Bennets hold a ball and Mr. Bingley arrives with a friend called Mr. Darcy.
Bingley and Jane were both very happy at the ball. They spent the whole time together laughing and dancing.
Darcy met Jane's sister, Elizabeth, and he didn't like her. He refused to dance with her. When Darcy didn't dance with her, Bingley asked him and he said that Elizabeth is not handsome enough to tempt him.
Mrs. Bennett found out and told Mr. Bennett. She said that Darcy said that Elizabeth is not good enough for him.
Over time, Darcy starts to like Elizabeth but Elizabeth still hates him. Darcy starts to listen on her conversations. He tells Bingley that he is mainly concentrated on Elizabeth.
