Storyboard Text

  • The narrator gives his brother a nickname, Doodle, which he soon goes by all the time. He is ashamed of having a crippled brother, so he decides to teach him how to walk.
  • The narrator teaches Doodle how to walk and do things that normal children do. Including running and swimming.
  • The narrator is ashamed of having a crippled brother so he teaches him how to do more normal things.
  • Doodle spots a bird struggling outside in a tree. The family all comes outside and identifies that it's a Scarlet Ibis. The Scarlet Ibis dies and Doodle buries it.
  • The narrator runs off, leaving Doodle behind, because he can't keep up and fell.
  • Doodle dies and the narrator is grieving tremendously. He feels guilty because he left him behind and he wanted to change Doodle so he was more suitable to play with.
