  • Martin Luther King Jr was a powerful speaker. He spoke about laws that separated blacks and whites from schools and jobs.
  • Martin was a good student. He finished HS early. At 15 he entered college in Alabama. In college Martin decided to become a minister.
  • In 1954 he began his first job as a pastor in Alabama. He led marches and protests.
  • Martin Luther King Jr led a protest. Blacks throughout the city refused to ride on the buses because of Rosa Parks. Martin Luther King Jr said "There comes a time where people get tired of being kicked about."
  • In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr led the biggest march of all. Over 200,000 whites and blacks followed him. He said "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will be judged not by the color of there skin, but by the content of there character."
  • In April 1968 Martin Luther King Jr went to Memphis Tennessee. He planned to march. He stood outside his hotel room while James Earl Ray was hiding with a gun and shot Martin Luther King Jr. He died one hour later.
