  • Could you put your phones and games away? Dinner will be ready soon
  • ...(silence)...
  • Are you ready for dinner?
  • **sigh**
  • The children are home from school waiting on dinner, they are both playing games on their phone and tablet. They haven't had much interaction with each other all day. Mum comes in to ask them to put their devices away in time for dinner.
  • feeling hopeful
  • Mum asks the children to sit at the table as dinner will be served in a few minutes, - both children haven't stopped using their devices. When she asks are they ready for their dinner no one replies as they are too busy on their phones...
  • But mum...our phones!
  • Lets just try it?
  • Mum is about to serve dinner, she is upset, this is always how dinnertime turns out - everyone on their phones, no one speaking.
  • This is so much fun
  • My turn!
  • She then remembers her friend gave her a game to prevent this 'phubbing' she decides to give it ago by filling out the spinning wheel.
  • Mum introduces the game to the kids, they are shocked at first - what are we going to do without our phones?
  • By the end of dinner everyone is conversing, Mum is pleased it is the first nice dinnertime they have had in a long time, the children are interacting a lot more.
