Storyboard Text

  • Whether you're in your neighborhood or at work, our world works in a system of status judgment. Your profession, wealth, and looks, determine where you lie in the career ladder. This social system evolves from a Medieval bureaucracy: Feudalism.
  • Model
  • I don't know where she got her looks, but I hope she kept the receipt!
  • If ignorance is bliss, she must be the world's happiest person!
  • Doctor
  • King
  • Feudalism is a medieval model of government. It was a way of structuring society, derived from an individual's social status. It orbited around the central relationship, obtained from the holding of land in exchange for service and labor. An ideal definition of Feudalism would be the feudal pyramid.
  • Nobles
  • Knights
  • Merchants
  • Peasants
  • Serfs
  • The King- The King owned all the land in the country and would decide to whom he'd lease land. The King wouldn't control all the land himself, so then he'd divide it among the barons. In return, the Barons would pledge their loyalty and soldiers for battles, to the King.
  • I solemnly swear...
  • Nobles- Nobles were part of the higher class. They would attend business matters that involved his land. They would discuss estate crops, harvests, and supplies, taxes due and rent. They would exchange land for military service. They had a luxurious life as they were wealthy and would have serfs do all the domestic household work and farming for them.
  • I've been developing an institution that would benefit the agriculture of the local community...
  • Knights- Knights would represent their Lord's family (nobles) in battles. They were professional warriors and in return, the Lord provided the knight with lodging, food, armor, weapons, horses, and money, to make a sustainable living off.
  • Glory, loot, and fame; these are what you fight for. Make my family's name honorable, and you shall be rewarded.
  • Merchants- Medieval merchants were businessmen who would travel to trade goods and items with other villages. They would make a living with their own gainings bought from customers and other traders. They worked independently and had to trade constantly to earn money to build their houses and live a prosperous life.
  • How about a bag of potatoes for five porcelain vases. C'mon, the potatoes would feed your family for a month!
  • How about you shut your filthy, corrupt mouth of yours!
