Beowulf swam to the bottom of a lake, where he expected Grendel's mother to be. She was furious and she wanted revenge. The battle was hard, but Beowulf ended up killing her. He was exhausted, and everyone was sure he was dead.
Since Beowulf wanted to end all of it so badly, he decided to go back to grendel's cave. When he got there, grendel was dead. So he cut his head off and brought it back to the hall.
They hung it on the wall and celebrated.
Not long after that, Beowulf had even more trouble. A slave had stolen a gold cup from the dragon's lair while he was sleeping. The dragon woke up, and was so angry, he could burn anything that gets in his way.
Beowulf came out to fight him. He killed the dragon, but the dragon would not go down without a fight. Victory was Beowulf's for a while until he died because of injuries from fighting the dragon.
