Storyboard Text

  • That's right Bob! Hey, doesn't this group has 5 elements named Boron, Aluminum, Gallium, Indium, and Thallium.
  • Hello children. I am a scientist at a lab. I will teach you about the 13th element group.
  • 3 valence electrons, Sally. Just like there are three of us kids.
  • Cool! How many valence electrons do those elements have.
  • Those same four elements are metals. Boron, however is a metalloid.
  • That is correct for 4 of the elements Sally, but Boron is only reactive at higher temperatures.
  • Correct Edgar! And they are known as the boron family.
  • I heard that they are reactive around room temperature.
  • I guess I'm so hot I can melt an element!
  • Did you know that gallium melts at 85.38 F? You could melt it with your own body heat!
  • Wow Edgar, that was a KNEE SLAPPER!
  • Hahahahahah! Edgar you are so funny!
