Listen up citizens of the Union! I have decided that I, Ulysses S. Grant, will go capture Confederate forts along the Mississippi River.
Yes! I have captured Fort Henry and Fort Donelson. These guarded the two most important entrances for Mississippi River. Now they are under my control!
Since General Grant has already seized two important parts of the Mississippi River, we shall capture the parts that are left while he is fighting in Tennessee.
NEW ORLEANS HAS BEEN CAPTURED!
MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE HAS BEEN CAPTURED!
THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER IS THE UNION'S NOW! THE SOUTH CAN NOT USE IT!
