Hatchet Character- Brian At very beginning of the book the quote,"There had been the initial excitement of course, he had Never flown a single engine plane before."(Paulsen2). this shows Brian can be described curious.
The pilot is large and very stiff, in the story it was cited" The pilot sat large, his hands lightly on the wheel, feet on the rudder pedal he seemed more a machine than a man."(Paulsen3). This shows how the pilot likes to be focused and is more of a lonely person
Brian's strongest personality trait is that he is a quick thinker. Every tome Brian was stuck in a problem he thought of a solution very quickly. In the story it states, "He had read something about Altimeters,"(Paulsen16). This explains when Brian was alone in the plane he did not panic instead he thought back to his prior knowledge.
Brian is patient in the starting of the book. He never was in a rush and he thought things over As cited"He waited now, waited but there was nothing"(Paulsen 20). This clearly shows how Brian is patient because even though the plane was falling he waited and thought about his situation
During the middle of the book Brian was scared because he was alone and he was still learning about survival. In the book it was stated that,"MOTHER! He screamed it and he could not be sure."(Paulsen65). This shows how Brian has no idea what to do and needs someone to comfort him.
At the end of the book Brian had become indapendant. Brian learned how to take care of himself and do other tasks. As explained in the book,"H saw that his stew was done,"(Paulsen185). The quote shows that Brian has also leaned to cook with the resources around him and he learned it on his own.
