Justin took a liking for his young nephew, Justinian. He wanted the best for him, including the best education. Justinian later joined the military.
Justinian became emporer. He soon became a high ranked official for his uncles government.
In 527, Justin and Justanian ruled the country's. That same year Justin died from a foot wound from war.
Justanian continued to rule. In 533 he sent his best general, Belisarius, to recover North Afica from the groups that conquered it from Rome.
Justanians powerful army won over most of Italy and a part of Spain. All of the emporers gains had costs and eventually weakened the empires economy.
Justinian created a code that supported all of Byzantine life . Although he passed in 565 his code served the empire for many years forward.
