Hey, do you know how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators?
Yeah, I can help you!
First, you have to find a common denominator. You can do this by multiplying the denominators together. Make sure you do whatever you do to the denominator to the numerator!
Okay, got it.
After you've done that, it's simple! You just have to add the numerators with simple addition. If it goes above the denominator, you can turn it into a mixed number by subtracting the numerator from the denominator and the leftover goes into the numerator and then the the part that was subtracted turns into a whole!
