Storyboard Text

  • Now that I’ve got all these sources, I’m ready to write my history paper! I’m going to meet with the writing specialist again to make sure I’ve cited my sources properly in APA style.
  • All classes at NLU cite sources using APA style. Citing sources appropriately is one part of academic honesty. Any time you use someone else’s ideas, you’ll need to cite them. Otherwise, it's considered plagiarism
  • You mean I even have to cite if I put the idea into my own words?
  • That’s right! You always need to give credit to the person whose ideas you used. That helps you maintain your integrity as a student, and shows the hard work you’ve put in to your research and paper, too.
  • Thanks for helping me with APA style! Is there anywhere I can go for help if I have more questions later?
  • Just visit NLU’s Help & Research Guides on the Library & Learning Support website, or set up an appointment to meet with a tutor. We’re happy to help.
