During world war one Texas was heavily segregated by race. black soldiers weren't allowed to to go to, white restaurants, ride in the front of the buss or sit at the front in the theater.
some texans had strong anti-german feelings. a lot of texans renamed sauerkraut to "liberty cabbage" and frankfurters to "liberty sausage"
more than 1,5 million mexicans died in the war. many became refugees people forced to leaave their home land due to the war.thousands of mexican refugees came to texas during the war.
