  • Theobald Boehm was born on April 19, 1794 in Munich, Germany.
  • He was trained to be a goldsmith and jeweler by his father.
  • He loved music, so by 1818, he was a goldsmith, flute-maker, and a professional flutist in an orchestra of the royal court of Munich. 
  • In 1828, Theobald had put together a workshop to manufacture instruments.
  • In 1847, he produced another instrument with a cylindrical body, foot joint, and parabolic head joint. The finger holes were even larger than before and had padded covers.
  • Theobald Boehm later died on November 25, 1881, in the same house in which he was born. He was then buried at the Old Southern Cemetery in Munich.
